Summerhill is a highly coveted neighbourhood in Toronto. It’s full of leafy tree-lined streets, homes with character and history, and an abundance of parkland located along Yonge Street. Named after Summer Hill house, a regency cottage built in 1842 by Canadian transportation baron Charles Thompson. The property the cottage was situated on the crest of the hill not far from the present day Yonge Street. Thompson used his property to host an amusement park before the property was sub-divided by his heirs in the 1860’s.
